Hi Bill,

I have confirmed with the DDGM the date of May 9th for our District Degree Day to be held at 99 Morrow Rd. I have booked both rooms for degrees on this day.

I am looking to have 12 candidates for second and third degrees, ideally 6 of each degree.

Could you please pass out the message to the masters and secretaries of the district for them to contact me if they would like to supply a candidate for this day. It is a good opportunity to assist with cleaning up busy trestle boards within the district. I believe that Kempenfeldt will have 3-4 to supply to the day so we are looking for at least 8-9 candidates from the rest if the district.

So far, I have the Scottish Rite Degree Team, The Wardens Association, and the Widows Sons Degree Team participating and it is shaping get up to be a great day!

We will also have a lunch break at the half way point and a repast after, and hope to start at 9:30am to break in time for lunch.

I will also have a planning meeting in the near future to get all the details sorted out and ensure all degree teams are prepared.

Thanks for your time!
Bro. Dave Hardwick

Brethren, I have posed the question by R. W. Bro. Charles A. Woods Chairman, Masonic Education Committee, and Grand Lodge Membership Pillar if the Lodges of Georgian South would be willing to play host to the 2015 Masonic Education Seminars.  The target date appears to be Saturday May 30th, 2015.  While it will need the support of the Masters of the District and the District Masonic Association, the event needs most especially the Barrie Lodges’ participation and support, as we would need to book the Lodge Building at 99 Morrow Road for the Seminar.
I know I have been asked numerous times if Grand Lodge was holding another Masonic Education Seminar this year.  We can make that answer yes and control having it in our own back yard if we choose to take the role as host.  It ties perfectly with the City’s plan to be the Post Secondary Education Center of Simcoe County and our goal to promote Masonry in the area.  I am sure that the Masonic Education Committee will take the broadest lead in the sessions and will provide us with direction on how we can assist them.  I understand if you are busy with getting ready for your Lodge’s Installations yourselves, but there may be Past Masters and some of the EA, FC and MM who would feel engaged to help out.  I would need the Masonic Temple Board to set up a liaison with R. W. Bro. Charles A. Woods to make the physical and financial components.  I am willing to oversee and guide the Committee but would be more than happy if some of the Brethren of the District stepped forward as an opportunity to groom their leadership skills.
This is a very time sensitive issue so please check out your trestle boards and calendars, and the building’s availability as that is the first step.  If the date does not work please provide some dates that could work around the Committee’s timelines.
It may also be a great fundraiser for the Temple Board or the Scottish Rite or the Shrine Club to host the luncheon upstairs.
I look forward to your feedback and getting started on planning,
R. W. Bro. Kennard Pratt DDGM Georgian South District
